Tinctures
Tinctures are available in quantities ranging from 10ml retail bottles to 1000 litres. They are produced from individual parts of the plant- herbs, roots, seeds, leaves or flowers, but in some case are a combination of berry and flower for example. They can also be blended by combining different plant tinctures.
Fluid Extracts
Fluid extracts are produced by similar methods to our tincture making process, repeated batches of herbal material are extracted in the same liquid to create a stronger product.
Percolation
A percolator is a large, narrow cone-shaped vessel made from either glass or metal with an opening at both ends. Moistened plant material is placed in the percolator and then heated up to 60 degrees. Continuous circulation of the solvent passing through the plant material ensures a highly concentrated extract is produced.
Alcohol Ratio
To ensure efficient and optimal extraction of the desired active constituents of a particular plant, the appropriate percentage of alcohol will be selected. This can range between 25%-90%. Using the correct strength of alcohol ensures that the tincture created is microbially stable.
Our Tinctures
We produce organic, agroecological and standard tinctures. We source some of plant material from a farm that only grows according to agroecological principles.
Maceration
This is a static process where the herb is placed in alcohol or other 'menstruum' and left to infuse from 3 days up to a month. Some agitation will be used to encourage the process.
